Dr. Rachel Abrams

 

Dr. Rachel Carlton Abrams joins on the show to promote her book Body Wise. Dr. Abrams takes an Integrative approach that balances conventional medicine, wellness practices, and intuition to heal the body both physically and emotionally. Dr. Abrams talks with callers to discuss ways to help understand their bodies in the conditions they are in.

Mike Shepherd

The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Executive Director, Mike Shepherd joins the show to talk about musical legends.  Shepherd mentions Elvis Presley, Chris Owens, Al Hirt, Johnny Rivers and John Fred. 

HOUR TWO

Pat Forbes

 Pat Forbes has been the Executive Director of the state Office of Community Development since July 2011. He talks about this Friday's meeting of the Restore Louisiana Task Force. Forbes discusses the state's recovery plans that will be voted on Friday in Livingston Parish and submitted to HUD.

Bob Mann

LSU Mass Communications Professor, Bob Mann, joins the show to talk about "Tricky Dick" Nixon.  Mann discusses the former president's sabotage of the peace treaty and why he feels Nixon was a  "shady, press-averse loser."

Michelle Southern

Assistant News Director at Louisiana Radio Network, Michelle opens the show with a recap of numbers from the elections this past weekend.  Michelle talks about the congressional races around the state, the taxes that were shot down in EBR parish and Sharon Weston Broome's triumph.

Rannah Gray

Author and public relations consultant joins the show to talk about Sharon Weston Broome winning the mayoral race.  Gray talks about Broome's obstacles while coming into office as the first woman Mayor of Baton Rouge.  She also describes party relations and their relevancy to those it represents.

HOUR TWO

Bob Mann & Earl Casey

Bob Mann is in studio and Earl Casey joins the show over the phone.  Mann and Casey join Rannah in discussing politics in the media and how fake news has revolutionized, changing the way people receive information.

Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser joins the show to talk with Jim about the status of the state's tourism the past few months since the recent flooding and the upcoming film Deepwater Horizon.

Bob Mann

A journalist and political historian, Robert Mann, Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University, joins the show to talk about a controversial speaker speaking on LSU's campus, media coverage and politics.

HOUR ONE

Chancelier Skidmore & Jolie Gilbert

Chancelier Skidmore joins Jim on the show to talk about the All City Teen Poetry Slam Festival that will be on LSU campus April 27-30. He brings the Baton Rouge Youth Poet-Laureate, Jolie Gilbert on the show and both share two poetic pieces.

Dr. Jerry Sanson of LSUA

 Based on FBI records obtained by the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication, Former-Governor John McKeithen made payments to the KKK in the 1960s to stop racial violence.  Dr. Sanson, professor of history and political science talks about the validity of the resources and rumors. Jerry Sanson is joined by Gus Weill, who was on McKeithen's advisory counsel, to discuss more details.

HOUR TWO

Robert Mann 

Robert Mann holds the Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU.  He joins Jim during the second hour of the show to aid in the discussion of former Gov. John McKeithen's payments to the KKK. Mann also discusses politics and candidates in the presidential election.

HOUR ONE: 

Alison Bass

Alison Bass is an author and award winning journalist.  She is also an Assistant Professor of Journalism at West Virginia University.  She shares her latest book Getting Screwed: Sex Workers and the Law.  Bass argues for the decriminalization of prostitution on the basis that anti-prostitution laws encourage exploitation and violence against women.  Bass is of the opinion that men seek out sex workers because they love their wives and don't want to leave their families, but their sexual needs are not being met. 

LEO HONEYCUTT

Leo Honeycutt is an author and award-winning television journalist.  He discusses the Gubernatorial election. Honeycutt also comments on the recent hypothetical poll which placed former Governor Edwin Edwards as most favored Louisiana governor.  He also gives his opinion on J.R. Ball's opinion article in The Times Picayune on Edwin Edwards.

Sarah Holliday-James 

Sarah Holliday-James is running for Baker Clerk of Court.  She promotes an event for The Pink Cupcakes of Louisiana on Thursday night for Breast Cancer Awareness.  

Robert Mann

Bob Mann is a journalist and political historian and currently holds the Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University.  He shares his article, Louisiana's governor's race is all prose, no poetry.  Mann provides insight to the swiftly approaching Gubernatorial election. 

8/27 Thursday: Gubernatorial Election, Gubernatorial Q&A, Remembering Hurricane Katrina, LBJ, and Insurance Commissioner Jim Donnelon

HOUR ONE: 

Bob Mann

Robert Mann is a journalist and political historian and currently holds the Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU.  He is also the author of several books including, Daisy Petals and Mushroom Clouds: LBJ, Barry Goldwater and the Ad that Changed American Politics.  Mann will discuss the Gubernatorial election and remember the legacy of LBJ on the 107th Birthday of the former US President.  He will also remember Hurricane Katrina as this week marks the 10th anniversary since the storm.  

HOUR TWO: 

Jim Donelon

Prior to becoming Insurance Commissioner, Jim Donelon served as Chief Deputy Commissioner and Executive Counsel of the Louisiana Department of Insurance.  Donelon shares his plan for reelection and also remember Hurricane Katrina and its impact on Louisiana.
