Cathy Scott is a Los Angeles Times bestselling author, known for her true-crime novels and is an investigative journalist. Scott has written a plethora of true-crime novels, including books about the deaths of rappers Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. She was here to promote her latest book The Crime Book: Big Ideas Simply Explained.

Political Consultant Trey Ourso (pictured) and Republican activist Vincent Bruno, debated on the presidency of Donald Trump and his decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement.

Hour 1: 

Raegan Carter

Raegan Carter with Smoke Free East Baton Rouge chats with Jim about the organization's new campaign to protect employees, musicians and entertainers in bars and casinos from secondhand smoke. Carter says this is the perfect time to make the push for a smoking ban in these establishments with a new mayor and council. 

Josh Bernstein

TV host and spokesperson for the Association of Mature American Citizens Josh Bernstein joins the conversation to comment on Jacob Schwartz, a Democratic DeBlasio employee who has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography. Bernstein says this type of behavior seems to be more prevalent in the Democratic party. 

Hour 2: 

Hillar Moore

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore joins Jim in studio to discuss his recent trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to witness the trials of those in connection with the 9/11 attack. Moore also comments on the video released of a fight in Tigerland and the future of the Alton Sterling case. He also mentions the fatal shooting of 18-year-old McKinley High School quarterback Bryant Lee.

Frances Stroh

Frances Stroh was the first guest to talk about her memoir, Beer Money: A Memoir of Privilege and Loss. Originally born in Detroit, Stroh was raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan; she graduated form Duke University and received her M.A. from Chelsea College of Art in London. 

Jeremy White

Jeremy White is the publisher of Red Shtick Magazine in Baton Rouge, he joined Jim to comment on Trump, Greg Gianforte and the fight that broke out in Texas during the legislature. 

Hour Two

Mark Kram jr. 

Mark Kram Jr. is the son of Mark Kram, a notable writer for Sports Illustrated during the 60s and 70s. Mark Kram jr. himself is an author; he joined Jim today to comment on the death of sportswriter, Frank Deford. 

Rev. David Diamond and Bill Grimley

 

Rev. David Diamond and attorney Bill Grimley joined the ongoing conversation about President Donald Trump and commented on his fate in the White House.

Jim plays bits of the 35th President's best speeches and reflects on his life on what would be Kennedy's 100th birthday. 

Mike Schmidt

Jim reminisces on the retirement of the greatest 3rd baseman of all time, an eight time National League home run champion and a 10 time Gold Glove winner.

Gus Weill

 

Former PR consultant Gus Weill, returns to comment on President Trump, the upcoming birthday of President John F. Kennedy and politician Greg Gianforte's attack on a British reporter. Weill is originally from Lafayette, La. 

Hour Two

Mike Strain

Mike Strain is the first Republican to be elected to the position of Louisiana Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner. He is a doctor of veterinary medicine, with a degree from LSU and is a former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, from Covington.

Mark Ballard from the Advocate came on the air to comment on the recent session and give his take on other events happening in Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana.

Donna Collins Lewis is an East Baton Rouge Metro councilwoman; she discusses Mayor Broome's request to have the officer who shot Alton Sterling, be dismissed from the force. She is Democratic representative for District 6 and was first elected to council in 2008.
