05/01 Monday: John Delgado and Darrell Glasper

Hour 1:

John Delgado 

Former councilman John Delgado joins Jim in studio to discuss the officer involved shooting of Alton Sterling. Delgado ran for Baton Rouge mayor last year and is now a lawyer for the Baton Rouge Police Union. He believes the officers involved in the fatal shooting of Sterling were acting in self defense. Delgado says protests will occur if no charges are filed against the two officers involved. 

Hour 2: 

Darrell Glasper

Former Metro Councilman Darrell Glasper also chats with Jim about the Sterling case. Glasper also comments on President Donald Trump. Glasper is an African-American Republican.

Gorden Lafer

George Lafer is a political economist writer and served as Senior Labor Policy Advisor for the House of Representatives' Committee on Education and Labor.  He discussed on air his book, The One Percent Solution: How Corporations Are Remaking America One State at a Time

George Morris

George Morris of The Advocate returns to the Jim Engster Show to come on air to discuss the 20th anniversary of the death of Chicago columnist, Mike Royko. 

Hour Two

Andre Moreau

Former channel 9 anchorman Andre Moreau came on air to comment on the NFL Draft. The first round of the draft saw three LSU tigers be picked. He was a reporter-anchor at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles in 2003 and KFMB-TV  in San Diego. He won an Emmy in San Diego for covering the 08 wildfires. 

Richard Marksbury

Former Dean from Tulane University, Richard Marksbury will gave his take on Confederate monuments being removed in New Orleans.

Owner and President of Mayer Co. Clothiers in Baton Rouge joins Jim in studio to talk about the health system in Louisiana. Mayer comments on the fashion industry and how it differs from the past and today. He also discusses his connection to former President Bill Clinton.

William Christie

William Christie is an author and has written nine published novels. His most recent novel is titled, A Single Spy, which he discussed on air. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and was formerly a Marine Corps infantry officer. 

Gary Lewis

You may know singer Gary Lewis from his rock n' roll group, Gary Lewis and the Playboys and his father is popular comedian Jerry Lewis. Cash Box Magazine named Lewis their "Male Vocalist of the Year" in 1965. He discussed his long career Jim on the air.

Hour Two 

George Sells

Veteran anchorman George Sells, came on to talk about his take on the downfall of Bill O'Reilly. Sells is a former WAFB anchorman and retired in 2012; he was born in Kingsport, TN and joined WAFB in 1988. 

04/24 Monday: The Removal of Confederate Monuments, Albert Samuels, Jeff Sadow

Hour 1: 

Billy Nungesser

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser chats with Jim about tourism in Louisiana and the early morning removal of the Liberty Place monument, one of four Confederate Monuments set to be removed in New Orleans. Nungesser also comments on how the state's budget problems are affecting the tourism industry. 

Albert Samuels 

Southern University Political Science Professor Dr. Albert Samuels joins the conversation to discuss the mayor of Baton Rouge, Sharon Weston-Broome. Broome's former Chief Administrative Officer Troy Bell resigned after a report found out he lied on is resume.  He also comments on the removal of the Confederate monuments in New Orleans.

Jeff Sadow

LSU-Shreveport Political Science Professor and blogger Jeff Sadow joins the show to discuss the removal of the Liberty Place monument in New Orleans.
