Martin Hawkins

British author Martin Hawkins joined the show to talk about his book on Blue's singer Slim Harpo and talk his love for American Blue's music. 

Mark Ballard

The Jim Engster Show veteran returned to talk about the local race to Senate and the presidential race. Ballard has been in charge of The Advocate's Capitol news bureau since '07. The Capitol news bureau covers state government in the country. 

Dima Ghawi 

Dima Ghawi is a keynote and motivational speaker who speaks on female empowerment and looks to help women achieve success in leadership positions. She has worked all around the world for Fortune 100 companies including IBM. Dima is from Jordan and came to the United States in 1996; she became the first woman in her family to graduate from college. 

Hour Two

Denny McLain

McLain is a former professional baseball player and pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. He helped lead the Tigers to their 1968 World Series win over the St. Louis Cardinals. He joined the show to give a brief take on the 2016 World Series. 

Scott Wilfong and Dayne Sherman 

Republican political consultant Scot Wilfong and Southeastern professor, Dayne Sherman joined the show to discuss the 2016 race to the presidency. Sherman is a Hillary supporter and Wilfong for Trump.

Wharton dissects some of the amendments that will have an impact on households--including a change in how public college tuition rates get set.

Don "crawdaddy" Crawford joins the show to discuss his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Dr. Brett Finlay is a professor of microbiology at the University of British Colombia. He has studied microbes for over thirty years and has written hundreds of articles. He joined Jim talk about his book 'Let Them Eat Dirt: Saving Your Child from an Oversanotized World.'

Charles Boustany 

Dr. Charles Boustany a retired physician and is a Republican candidate for 2016 U.S. Senate. Boustany is originally from Lafayette, Louisiana. He talked to Jim about the race and his chance of possibly becoming a United States Senator. 

Hour Two

Denny McLain

Shaun Usher has compiled an online museum of notable letters which to date has been visited almost 100 million times. Four years later, that website spawned a much-anticipated book called Letters of Note.

LA Public Service Commissioner, Campbell joins the show to talk about his U.S. Senate campaign and what sets him apart from his competitors.

Peter Janney

Peter Janney traces important events and influences in the life of Mary Pinchot Meyer—including her first meeting with the president of the United States, as he turned away from the Cold War toward the pursuit of world peace. Janney focuses on Meyer’s alleged assassin and the facts or lies that depicted her death.

Alex Martin

Graduate of LSU and editor of The Wall Street Journal joins the show as a result of LSU's Daily Reveille reducing to a weekly paper.  Martin explains that papers are running out of time to transfer from print journalism and even larger papers like the Journal are also experiencing difficulties with subscriptions in the digital era.

Bruce Herschensohn

Stanley Bruce Herschensohn is an American political commentator and author who rose to prominence in the Republican Party, becoming a consultant to the Republican National Convention in 1972 and joined the Nixon administration on September 11, 1972.  Herschensohn talks with Jim about the two presidential candidates and the traits that avert Donald Trump from becoming a respected president.

Roider is a former history professor at Louisiana State University and dropped to give his input on last night's debate and the 2016 race to the presidency. He first joined LSU's staff in 1968.

Shaun Assael

Shaun Assael is an author and investigative journalist. He is a senior writer for ESPN the magazine. He has authored many books but called-in to discuss his book-- 'The Murder of Sonny Liston: Las Vegas, Heroin, and Heavyweights'

Hour Two

Abhay Patel

Republican candidate Abhay Patel announced his withdrawal from the 2016 Louisiana Senate Race and endorsed Republican Charles Boustany. Patel joined the show to speak on his decision.
