Deni Ellis Béchard

The Canadian-American author joins the show to discuss his new fiction novel, "Into the Sun" set in Afghanistan. Béchard has written many other and his written for publications such as The LA Times, The Harvard Review, The National Post and more.

Gus Weill

 

Gus Weill returns to the show to discuss the 2016 presidential race and his take LSU Football's Coach O. Weill is a political consultant and a former public relations specialist. He graduated from Louisiana State University and established the first PR/advertising firm in Baton Rouge in 1958.

The two former State Senators join the show to talk about the VP debate airing October 4. Hebert is the former Commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control and was elected for three terms as Democrat to the Louisiana House of Representatives. Guarisco served as a Democratic State Senator from 1976-1988.

Stanley Nelson & Greg Iles

Reporter Stanley Nelson has documented cold case files in Louisiana and Mississippi in The Civil Rights Cold Case Project.  Novelist Greg Iles has spent many hours researching his novels that deal with race, family and evil men.  Iles uses the information and history that Nelson reports on for his novels like Mississippi Blood, that look into the unsolved Civil Rights-era cold case murders of numerous black men.

Greg Lafleur

Greg Lafleur is a former American football tight end in the National Football League who previously played for LSU.  Lafleur was also the athletic director for Southern University.   Lafleur talks about Coach Ogeron and Steve Ensminger.  He is a candidate in the Mayoral race, and describes the qualities that make him fit for the job.

HOUR TWO

Jesse Ventura

Former governor of Minnesota, Navy SEAL and Professional Wrestler Jesse Ventura joins the show to talk about his recent book, Marijuana Manifesto. Ventura lays out his philosophy on marijuana, and why he’s always been in favor of legalization. He also discusses the presidential election and Marijuana's role in the race.

The President of LSU Alumni Association joins the show in the first hour to talk about the contributions of LSU alumnae and how those contributions make LSU the most beautiful campus in higher education.

John McCann

Former head coach of McNeese State, McCann, gave LSU's interim coach, Ed Orgeron his first job on his coaching staff in the 80s. McCann discusses Orgeron's character and foretells his success as head coach of the tigers.

Ali Akbar & Lamar White

Blogger and Democrat Lamar White, and political consultant and Republican, Ali Akbar discuss the presidential debates earlier in the week as well as the Congressional race.

Joe Conason is an American author who joined the show to discuss his new book 'Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton' and his experiences with the former President. He is the former executive editor of the New York Observer and founder & editor-in-chief of The National Memo. 

Dr. Laura Cassidy 

 

Dr. Laura Cassidy joined Jim to discuss dyslexia and the Louisiana Key Academy, a charter school that she co-founded. The LA Key Academy specializes in teaching students with dyslexia. She served as Chief of Surgery at Earl K. Long Medical Center from 1990-1992. She worked in private practice specializing in breast cancer treatment until her retirement in 2006.

Humberto Fontova

 

Humberto Fontova is a Cuban-born political commentator backing Donald Trump in the upcoming election. He fled Cuba in 1961 and lived in the New Orleans area. He attended the University of New Orleans where he received a B.A. in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane. 

Dayne Sherman 

Sherman is an American journalist and joined Jim on the air to lend his support for Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States. Sherman is also an author and has been publishing short fiction since 2001.

Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, Legal and Special Projects, Payer joins the show to talk with callers and Jim about the Louisiana Shelter at Home Program.  Deadline to register for the program is October 15.

Trey Ourso is a political consultant joining the show to talk about the presidential debates Monday night.  Ourso discusses Hillary and Donald's campaigns, determining who he feels "won" the debate.
