Tyrus Thomas & TaRhonda Bazille

Former LSU and NBA star Tyrus Thomas and film director TaRhonda Bazille join Jim in studio to discuss their film, which will premier at the Louisiana International Film Festival, The Ryan Francis Story. Ryan Francis was a Baton Rouge native visiting home for Mother's Day from USC, where he played basketball, when he was shot and killed on May 13, 2006.

Baton Rouge Rep. Edmond Jordan and Executive Director of the Celtic Media Centre Patrick Mulhearn chat with Jim about the film industry in Louisiana and the struggles the film tax credits face during the legislative session. Mulhearn emphasizes how many jobs the film industry creates in the Bayou State. A report finds the film tax incentive causes a significant hit to the state's budget. Mulhearn is leaving his position at Celtic in June after 8 years.

Jim Brown joins Jim in the studio to talk about Donald Trump and the racial component in the South that helped him get elected President. Brown also talks about John Kennedy and the Senate race.

Smiley Anders

Smiley Anders joins the show before his 70th birthday on Sunday, November 20.  He recalls when he was the editor of the LSU Reveille.  Smiley remembers Billy Cannon, the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the expansion of The Advocate.

Tyrus Thomas

Tyrus Thomas joins the show to talk about his life journey from rags to riches and comments on Fournette's decision to go pro. Thomas describes his friendship with Derrius Guice and his feelings about the Alton Sterling shooting.

Music and film critic John Wirt joins Jim in studio to chat about the Beatles and their visit to New Orleans. Wirt comments on upcoming movies being released in theaters and which ones were filmed in Louisiana. 

Rick Avery

Author and stuntman Rick Avery chats with Jim about his life as a stuntman, his book, and training actors to perform stunts. He says John Travolta got him started with his stunt career. Avery comments on training Usher for the upcoming film, Hands of Stone.

 

HOUR TWO

Ray Strother

Political consultant Ray Strother joins the show to discuss the presidential election. Strother comments on Republican candidate Donald Trump admitting President Barack Obama was born in the United States.

Tyrus Thomas

Former LSU and professional basketball player, Thomas is a resident of Baton Rouge and comments on the recent shootings in the Capitol city. Thomas plays a role in the community and will help lead a vigil tonight in North Baton Rouge at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

Dr. Lori Martin

Dr. Lori Martin is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at LSU and she gives her opinion on the relationship between the south and racism and police brutality.

Mike Edmonson

The superintendent joins the show to reassure civilians that police are doing everything in their power to keep everything peaceful in Baton Rouge.  He says that they are following up on all threats and encourage people to protest in peaceful manners.

HOUR TWO

Sharon Weston Broome

Broome is running for Mayor-President of Baton Rouge.  She talks about her candidacy, the recent shootings in the city and how it affects the community.
