HOUR ONE

Jeff Pearlman

The American Sports writer joins the show to talk about his recent book, Gunslinger.  Gunslinger tells the story of Brett Favre’s, using more than five hundred interviews. Pearlman charts an unparalleled journey from his rural childhood and high school football career to landing the last scholarship at Southern Mississippi.

Henson Moore

Henson Moore is a retired attorney and businessman who is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, having represented Louisiana's 6th congressional district.  He joins the show to talk about his life in Louisiana politics and discusses the difference in politicians and campaigns today.

Constance Hale

Constance Hale presents the largely untold story of the hula dance tradition, using the twin keyholes of Kumu Patrick Makuakane.  The art of hula is thriving in cities all over the country and the world, but it is not always understood. In her book, The Natives Are Restless, Makuakane’s exuberant, fierce, sensuous dance style come alive on the page.

Sharon Broome

Broome is running for Mayor-President of Baton Rouge.  She joins the show to talk about what Baton Rouge needs to focus on the most.  Broome talks with callers about some of the issues for which they are concerned.

Hour 1:

Sharon Weston Broome

Candidate for Baton Rouge Mayor and former state Senator Sharon Weston Broome joins Jim in studio to discuss the election and the historic flooding southern Louisiana recently faced. Broome's home, along with thousands of others, was flooded during the massive rain event. 

Mark Davis

Author and talk-show host Mark Davis chats with Jim about San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick not standing during the National Anthem. Davis also comments on the upcoming presidential election. 

Hour 2: 

John Barry

Author John Barry chats with Jim about his book, Rising Tide, which discusses the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. Barry talks about the similarities of the recent historic flooding in southern Louisiana and the flood during the late 1920's. Rising Tide was named one of the 50 best books of all kinds by the New York Public Library in 2005. 

Gus Weill

Political Consultant Gus Weill chats with Jim about the sexting scandal of the husband of Hillary Clinton's long term aide, Huma Abedin. This is former U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner's third sexting scandal. Weill also comments on the overall presidential election and the recent flooding in southern Louisiana. 

07/08 Friday: Tyrus Thomas on BR Shootings, Dr. Lori Martin, Superintendent of State Police, Sharon Weston Broome, Phil Oakley

HOUR ONE

Tyrus Thomas

Former LSU and professional basketball player, Thomas is a resident of Baton Rouge and comments on the recent shootings in the Capitol city. Thomas plays a role in the community and will help lead a vigil tonight in North Baton Rouge at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.

Dr. Lori Martin

Dr. Lori Martin is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at LSU and she gives her opinion on the relationship between the south and racism and police brutality.

Mike Edmonson

The superintendent joins the show to reassure civilians that police are doing everything in their power to keep everything peaceful in Baton Rouge.  He says that they are following up on all threats and encourage people to protest in peaceful manners.

HOUR TWO

Sharon Weston Broome

Broome is running for Mayor-President of Baton Rouge.  She talks about her candidacy, the recent shootings in the city and how it affects the community.
