Award-winning journalist and native of Baton Rouge, McCalope joins the show to talk about the aftermath in the community since the shooting of Alton Sterling.

Meyers reveals why successful female gymnasts are older and more athletic than they have ever been before, how the United States became a gymnastics powerhouse, and what the future of gymnastics will hold.

Publisher and Co-Owner of Baton Rouge's The Rouge Collection is responsible for a large part of Alton Sterling's funeral at Southern University, Friday, July 15.  Chambers describes who is expected to attend the funeral.

HOUR TWO

Garret Graves

Congressmen Cedric Richmond and Garret Graves have teamed up to introduce legislation that would give police training to de-escalate situations and help provide law enforcement access to nonlethal weapons. Graves says this comes after last week’s fatal police shooting of Alton Sterling. He says this bill’s goal is to use new technology to bridge gaps between life and death.

Rob Maness joins the show to talk about Indiana Gov. Mike Pence who is expected to be Donald Trump's running mate.

Martin Maley 

Marty Maley is running for Attorney General of Louisiana.  Maley has practiced law for over 24 years.  He joins Jim today to discuss his campaign and share his opinions on gun control given the recent Lafayette theater shooting.  "I don't plan on playing politics with the office," Maley says, "I'm running for Attorney General of Louisiana because I want that job."  @mkmsr1963

Eliakim Thorpe

Eliakim Thorpe is an African American activist and public speaker.  He is the creator of the T.H.R.I.V.I.N.G. Organization: A New Philosophy to Transform Organizations.  Thorpe shares his opinion on murder in American and gun control.  He also comments on the controversy surrounding Bill Cosby and the passing of Whitney Houston's twenty-two year old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. @Eliakim_Thorpe

Robert Mann

Bob Mann is the Journalism Chair of the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU.  He discusses the Lafayette theatre shooting and his recent article on gun violence  in Louisiana and the United States entitled; Prayer won't stop guns: The hypocrisy behind the right's refusal to talk about gun violence.  "What's so sad about it is likely a week from now, we'll be talking about another mass shooting somewhere else," Mann says.  He also comments on the upcoming Gubernatorial election in thirteen weeks.  @RTMannJr

HOUR ONE: 

Christopher Cerf

Christopher Cerf is an Author and President of the educational media production company, Sirius Thinking, LTd., on which he created his award-winning children's show, Between the Lions on PBS.  He shares his latest book with Jim today entitled, How to Succeed in Business and Politics and Everything Else Without Really Lying with Spinglish: The Definitive Dictionary of Deliberately Deceptive Language.    He shares examples from his book, including "collateral damage = bombed citizens." 

Scott Angelle

Scott Angelle is the Louisiana Public Service Commissioner and a Gubernatorial Candidate for the Fall election.  He discusses why he is running for governor, why you should vote for him, and what he will do for Louisiana.  "I believe the state is starving for bipartisan leadership... We don't need a governor that knows everything," Angelle says, "We need a governor that works with everyone."  

HOUR TWO: 

Russel Honore'

Lieutenant General Russel Honore' rails against the recent BP settlement.  Honore' says that the lawyers of the BP agreement worked a better deal for themselves than the people affected.  "EXXON and Shell are basically bullies," he says, "Our legislators let them get away with this because of donations to the offices."
