George Morris is a feature writer for The Advocate and long-time sports writer. Morris got his start as sportswriter covering LSU almost 35 years ago and decided to stay in Baton Rouge. Morris was on air to talk more about his long career.

General Russel Honore is back to talk about how hurricane Katrina changed the cultural landscape of Louisiana. He also commented on the Cajun Navy and the Green Army.

George Lafer is a political economist writer and served as Senior Labor Policy Advisor for the House of Representatives' Committee on Education and Labor.  He discussed on air his book, The One Percent Solution: How Corporations Are Remaking America One State at a Time

George Morris

George Morris of The Advocate returns to the Jim Engster Show to come on air to discuss the 20th anniversary of the death of Chicago columnist, Mike Royko.

Andre Moreau

Former channel 9 anchorman Andre Moreau came on air to comment on the NFL Draft. The first round of the draft saw three LSU tigers be picked. He was a reporter-anchor at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles in 2003 and KFMB-TV  in San Diego. He won an Emmy in San Diego for covering the 08 wildfires. 

Richard Marksbury

Former Dean from Tulane University, Richard Marksbury will gave his take on Confederate monuments being removed in New Orleans.

Tippi Hedren

The Birds star Tippi Hedren joins the show to talk about her book, Tippi: A Memoir.  Tippi talks about, The Birds and Marnie and some of her favorite and not-so-favorite moments while filmingHedren is an animal rights activist with a love for big cats.

Brian Curtis

After bombing of Pearl Harbor, the 1942 Rose Bowl was moved from Pasadena to Durham, North Carolina, out of fear of Japanese attacks on the West Coast. It remains the only Rose Bowl game to ever be played outside of Pasadena. In Fields of Battle, Brian Curtis sheds light on the teamwork, grit, and determination that took place on both the football fields and the battlefields of World War II.

George Morris

Morris is a writer for the Baton Rouge Advocate.  He recently wrote a piece about Pearl Harbor.  Morris joins the show to talk about the story and what it was like in Baton Rouge on December 7, 75 years ago.

Zach Williams

Zach Williams is from North Carolina and is writing a book about Bo Rein.  Williams recalls Rein's plane crash and talks about the LSU football coach that never coached a game.  The working title for now is 40 minutes to Baton Rouge: The story of Robert "Bo" Rein.

06/06 Monday: 72th Anniversary of DDay, Terry McMillan, Rob Maness, Rudy Macklin on Muhammad Ali

George Morris of The Advocate joins the show on the 72th Anniversary of DDay to talk with Jim about the importance of war and what the men who fought experienced.

Terry McMillan

The author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "Mama" is back on the scene with her newest book, "I Almost Forgot About You."  McMillan talks with Jim about the characters in her books and how relate-able they are to our own lives.

Rob Maness

Rob Maness is a Senate candidate and talks to Jim about what makes him different from the other candidates.  Maness also remembers DDay and describes his qualifying background and experience.

Rudy Macklin

Former LSU basketball player Rudy Macklin remembers his friend from Louisville, Muhammad Ali, who died Friday at the age of 74.  Macklin talks about growing up in the same hometown as Ali and watching Ali's fights as a child.

George Morris

George Morris of The Advocate has a blog about WWII. The blog reflects on history's greatest conflict. Morris tells Jim about the stories of soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and civilians, people he has met as a reporter for Louisiana's largest daily newspaper, The Advocate.

Clay Higgins

After resigning from his position, Former Captain Higgins has released a new video.  Higgins joins Jim on the show to address rumors of running for a office in Louisiana politics.

Maria Toorpakai

Maria Toorpakai grew up in Waziristan, controlled by the Taliban,  and it is still considered one of the most dangerous places on earth.  It is a place where women don't have the right to leave their home unaccompanied. It's no place for a young girl to play outside.  Maria tells the story of how she disguised herself as a boy to hide from the Taliban so she could play squash.  Her book, "A Different Kind of Daughter", released today May 3.

10/12 Monday: The Gubernatorial Election and other Louisiana Elections and Secretary of State Tom Schedler

George Morris 

George Morris is a News Features writer for The Advocate.  Morris comments on the LSU v. USC football game this past weekend.  He commends the LSU fans for their hospitality which he "does not often see in SEC football games." 

Jim Brown

Jim Brown is the former Secretary of State and Insurance Commissioner of Louisiana.  He comments on the Gubernatorial election.  Brown gives his opinion on Senator Vitter, stating "if you can put away personal prejudice, he makes a good case."  Brown also goes on to express his admiration for Wendy Vitter.  

HOUR TWO: 

Tom Schedler

Tom Schedler is the Secretary of State of Louisiana, elected in 2011.  He comments on each of the four Gubernatorial candidates as elections are quickly approaching.  Schedler also discusses the problems of voter turnout nationwide and in Louisiana.
